Austin, Tx, is a great city to visit. There are just too many things to do here. Austin has a rich, artistic and cultural movement. This is the first thing you will notice while visiting this wonderful town.
The first place you need to visit is The Oasis. This is a traditional Austin hang out. This restaurant-bar sits above Lake Travis and it’s a great place to relax, and watch the boats on the Lake, and get a look at the Austin horizon.

There are actually several lakes in Austin. These come from the Colorado River which flows through the city. In fact the river runs right through downtown Austin and is actually called Town Lake which is nice, but Lake Travis is even larger and it’s a great place to water ski, sail, fish, or just relax.

See the Urban Bat Colony
Austin, is known to have the largest urban bat colony. A bridge built in 1980 made the perfect home for the more than 1.5 million Mexican Freetail bats. These migrate here on their way back from Mexico. They start arriving in March and summer makes a great time to see them.

The State Capitol
This is a beautiful sample of architecture and this State Capitol is taller than even he U.S. Capitol. Go inside and you will be awed by the ornate decorations of the dome.

Downtown
Downtown Austin has a great many things to do. You will find a wide range of restaurants, bars, and great places to sit, sip something wonderful and listen to Jazz. Austin has a “thing” for being strange. If you want to find strange people, places to eat, and products then you will find it in Austin. They even have a Spamarama festival, a celebration of Spam, the canned meat.

Comedy Shows
While in Austin you have to get to one of the comedy shows. Austin is known for it´s wild comedy, and you will find a show every night of the week in one of the many theaters.

Live Music
Austin is one of the great U.S. cities that focuses on live music. In fact, Austin has more live music shows than any of the big music cities in the country. Any where you go in the downtown area you will find a live performance in many of the venues. You will find all genres too. They have groups that play country, jazz, bluegrass, rock, blues, alternative and world music.

Festivals
There are two important festivals that happen in Austin, South by Southwest music festival, and Austin City Limits.

There are tons of things to do in Austin and this may be one of the most enjoyable cities you ever visit. All you have to do is go and enjoy yourself.
