One of the most interesting vacations I have ever gone on was a trip to Tucson, Arizona. Tucson is one of those great places everyone should visit. It’s always warm, the people are friendly and there are many things to do here.
Tucson is one of the oldest inhabited areas of the United States, and its history dates back to the time of Christ. The city played a great role in the old west and in 1884 there were approximately 25 functioning saloons. It was in Tucson where a law was passed forbidding women to wear pants, where John Dillinger was arrested, and where Wyatt Earl and Doc Holliday made a stop over. The Wild West has long but vestiges of the times can still be seen in Tucson, Arizona in the many museums.
Take Your Time
Visitors who arrive here will want to spend more than a couple of days enjoying the sights and activities. There are many cafes, restaurants, shopping areas and museums to enjoy here.
Sports
Anyone who enjoys the outdoors will want to visit Saguaro National Park, and see the natural habitat. It’s a great place for bird and wild life watching.
Sports fans won’t want to miss a major league baseball game. Buy tickets to see the Colorado Rockies, the Chicago White Sox, or the Arizona Razorbacks. All of these teams stay in Tucson for their spring training.
Golf aficionados will love the choice of world class golf courses. Enjoy the Randolph Golf course comprised of two 18 hole championship golf courses, or enjoy a bit of history at the El Rio. This golf course was built in the 1930’s and was the original course used for the PGA Tucson open. If you are looking for something a little different then try the Enke, a desert style course in the city, and considered to be a true challenge.
Events
Many events and attractions go on throughout the year in Tucson, among the most famous is the Tucson Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Showcase. This interest anyone who loves fine jewelry or minerals.
Even would be astrologers find something interesting to do here. Tucson is great for stargazing and observing planetary movement. Tucson enjoys some of the clearest, prettiest night skies in the nation.
Culture
Culture in Tucson is quite varied. The city has a heritage of Spanish, Native American, and Mexican influence, and this influence can be seen in its architecture, food, and entertainment. Among the most famous of these events are “La Fiesta de los Vaqueros” and the “Waila Festival.” Art lovers enjoy street fairs, art museums, and many local art galleries and cafes.
Whatever activity you enjoy Tucson is sure to offer it. You can enjoy dining out, walking about, and many other types of entertainment in the sunshine. Tucson boasts 300 days of sunshine, with summer weather averaging temperatures at around 90 degrees and winter average temperatures of 70 degrees.
